Our Year 6 pupils were invited to a First World War Centenary service led by Reverend David Atkinson from St Nicholas’ church. They were joined by other pupils from local schools, where prayers and poems were read by the children. Also attending this event were Councillor Chris McHugh and Liz Twist the MP for Blaydon. The children laid a wreath on the monument which was followed by The Last Post and 2 minutes silence. The children also took with them some artwork to mark the centenary. This is to be displayed in St Nicholas’ Church during this time of remembrance.
