This week as part of their Street Detectives topic, Year 1 spent time outside in their local area investigating all the different things that are in their environment. They discovered shops, houses, flats and even a post box. They looked at the different ways they could cross the road and the types of transport that use our local roads. They even found out about the Dunston Staithes, a local historic structure on the River Tyne. On their return to school they saw a building site and talked about how houses are built. Many of the children also showed Mrs Gaughan and the rest of our grown-ups the places they visit in their lives outside of school. Some of the children even walked near to their houses!
